Bug 240920

Summary: Safari sometimes fails to open new tabs and sometimes fails to push history
Product: WebKit Reporter: Islam Sharabash <islam.sharabash>
Component: HistoryAssignee: Nobody <webkit-unassigned>
Status: RESOLVED INVALID
Severity: Major
Priority: P2
Version: Safari 15
Hardware: Mac (Apple Silicon)
OS: macOS 12

Description Islam Sharabash 2022-05-25 12:43:22 PDT
Steps:
1. Set default search engine to google
2. Create a new named tab group with several tabs
3. Open a new tab in the tab group and do a google search for anything
4. Open new tabs for results with a combination of clicking and ctrl-clicking results

Expected:
New tabs are opened when ctrl-clicking results
When clicking results the current tab is changed to the result

Actual:
Sometimes new tab will file to open when ctrl-clicking (no new tab is generated).
Sometimes the current tab will fail to go to the url when clicking, but the current tab will flash.
Sometimes the tab will go to the new url, but you won't be able to go back in the current tab (history is overwritten instead of being pushed).

This happens often enough that I can share logs / etc if you tell me where to gather them from.

Thank you for the report! Could you please file this issue via https://feedbackassistant.apple.com? This sounds like a Safari issue, or at least one that would require a collaboration between Safari and WebKit engineers to investigate.
