Description Thomas Steiner 2020-07-27 13:01:11 PDT
Chrome and Firefox DevTools can be opened from the new tab page, allowing developers to easily record first-time visits. The current annoying-ish work-around for Web Inspector is to first go to a dummy page like example.com, to then navigate to the actual target page.

Thanks for the feedback. Another workaround is to set New Tabs Open With: to "Empty Page" (aka about:blank).

This has been imported to Safari's bug tracker. The fix is likely not in WebKit, but I'll update the bug if we make progress on this.

This has been fixed in Safari. Should appear in Safari Technology Preview 112.
